The area surrounding the cottages is lush countryside, with many beautiful walks and woodlands.

On the land surrounding the cottages are the two lakes of Talley, which are easy to reach and walk around, with the second lake bordered by peaceful woodland containing a bird hide.  Fishing on the first lake is also available by arrangement.



Standing right by the closest lake is Talley Abbey, an interesting ruin of a 12th century abbey, with half of the walls still standing, making for an awe-inspiring sight.



The closest woodland is the Talley Forestry, a mere two minutes walk from the cottages, which offers many walking trails leading to stunning views overlooking the countryside.



Another easy to reach forest is Brechfa, which offers numerous walking trails and also three purpose planned mountain bike routes.

The Dolaucothi gold mines are also within close proximity to the cottages.  These unique mines hail back to Roman times, and activities include underground tours and panning for gold.
